ART CARPET IS ACCELERATING IN WORLD MARKETS
Oktay Oral: “Our main export region is Saudi Arabia. Greece, Italy, India, Oman, Portugal, Spain and United Kingdom are among other important export areas. Lately we are working on new strategies to start export sales to USA, Canada and Far East.

With a yearly production of 2.5 million square meters of high quality carpets, the Turkish manufacturer Art Carpet started its production in 2005 and today plays an important role in Turkish carpet sector. Mr. Oktay Oral, the general manager of Art Carpet, indicates that in recent years, shaggy carpets have aroused a great attention worldwide and these carpets have a significant part in Art Carpet's product range. "We offer shaggy carpets in different qualities. Super shaggy, polyesyer shaggy, hand carved and smooth shaggy, cup&loop shaggy are among them. We also produce sisal, PP heatset, wall to wall and mosque carpets" says Oral.
As an export oriented company, Art Carpet achieved 12 million dollars export sales in 2005 and approximately 13 million in 2006. This figure is expected to be 15 million dollar by the end of 2007.
During the initial years, Art Carpet was exporting to Afghanistan only. Currently the company has export activities in 30 countries worldwide. "Our main export region is Saudi Arabia. Greece , Italy , India , Oman , Portugal , Spain and United Kingdom are among the other important export areas." says Mr. Oktay Oral. Lately the company is working on new strategies to start export sales to USA, Canada and Far East. Today, Art brand is quite well known in many countries and brand recognition activities play a significant role in marketing strategies. "In the long run, we aim to increase our brand recognition in every part of the world" comments Oral. According to the latest data, Art Carpet has an export market share of 50% in Saudi Arabia, 30% in European countries and 20% in other regions.
In trade business, creating long term friendships with the customers is the key of success. Art Carpet takes this as a principle and consolidates the relations formed especially in trade shows. Oktay Oral says that Art Carpet treasures the value of friendship with the customers and adds: "We think of our customers rather like a friend and we show our sincerity by doing small gestures such as remembering special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. This is the main reason of our success. Also we care for small details because we are well aware of the fact that labels, catalogues, product samples and the package of the products are as important as the order itself."
Over the past 5 years, the conception of carpet has changed into a fashion icon and therefore the trends in carpet design and color are changing very quickly. In order to keep up with the latest trends, Art Carpet has formed a design team and creates more than 20 color options for each quality. Oktay Oral explains that Art Carpet design team is full of young and dynamic people, who follows the novelties in carpet sector; "Each country has its own tastes in carpet design and our team is working very hard to meet this demand." he says.
Art Carpet is among the few that manages to increase it market share only in a short time. During the first years of production the yearly output was around 1 million square meters. In less than a year this figure is raised to 2.5 million per year. Now Art Carpet is working export oriented with an experienced team in its structure. For 2008, the company plans to multiply the number of weaving looms and increase the export figure up to 25 million dollars.
