Gümüşsuyu took its first step in the industrial world by producing yarn for carpets and rugs in its woolen yarn factory founded in 1952. Later on the company started expanding by producing carpets and rugs. Only after a couple of years, Gümüşsuyu managed to become a pioneer in carpet sector with its special carpet collections and unique projects which seperated the company from its rivals. In the meantime, the company increased its brand recognition and specialized as an educational and instructive enterprise. Gümüşsuyu invested both in national and international markets until 2000 and won several rewards ever since. Exporting all around the world, Gümüşsuyu is a successful representative of Turkish carpet sector. In 2000, when the company was at the cutting edge of its profession, the most destructive financial crisis hit Turkish economy and therefore Gümüşsuyu had to terminate its production for a period of three years. However the demand for Gümüşsuyu products remained in the domestic market and therefore the companys brand name and enterprises were rented for 25 years by Modern Hal?in 2003 and one year later, carpets produced under Gümüşsuyu brand were in the market again. Ever since that date, Modern Hal?continues carpet production in the integrated facilities of Gümüşsuyu.
Working with an innovative production concept and the philosophy of being original, Gümüşsuyu produced the first carved carpet in Turkey in 1998. Today the company produces acrylic silver carpets under the name Kaftan, which were previously produced from woolen yarn.
In 2004, Modern Hal?created a brand new product, namely Yakamoz, which is a multicolor polypropylene friese carpet. This new product was initially displayed in Eurasia Floor 2005 and received a worldwide attention. Another captivating carpet collection by the company is İpek Carpet?which consist of 100% natural silk carpets that look quite similar to handwoven silk carpets. This collection has been a significant investment and created by great efforts. When it comes to area rugs, the company produces woolen carpet collections, namely Anatolia, Gümüşmekik, Özlem and Ankara. All collections are made of woolen yarns and 100% natural. As is known, woolen yarns are among the most natural, durable and aesthetic materials.
Today Gümüşsuyu is also manufacturing contract carpets for hotels, offices and mosques both in Turkey and worldwide. The latest big scale project by the company is for The Blue Mosque which is located in Istanbul and regarded as one the most significant work of arts of Islamic world. The carpet produced for this project is woven by the thinnest woolen yarns which give the carpet a soft touch and a nice feeling. The general opinion of how mosque carpets should be is completely wrong. People believe that if the carpet is woven with thick yarns, the result would be much more durable and strong. However the usage of thick yarns causes irritation on the forehead during religious service. Furthermore, it is rather difficult to maintain these carpets and in time the fibers become matted. What we believe is that carpets used in sacred places should have very high quality and an aesthetic looks.?says Filiz Tezgören, Sales Manager of Modern Hal?
